Death Plays Black

If ever you were to doubt Nicko and Joe's love of bad movies then all you'd have to do is take a look at their Death Plays Black website. As connoisseurs and passionate lovers of the disaster movie genre they set about writing a treatment for a British based disaster drama set against the backdrop of Rhyl.

Being enthusiastic and impatient the duo decided that the best way to bring Death Plays Black to the public attention was via the internet. So the screen play became a radio script and they set about recording all the character voices, sound effects and theme music themselves. The first episode was up and ready on their website by August 2005 and also became available as a podcast on various podcasting sites beaming their broadcast to thousands of ipods and computers around the world.

The story involves a new casino complex built by money hungry Ted Dillanger who has shoddily constructed it directly on a fault line, ignoring all warnings from chief architect - and hero - Todd Jefferson. After all it's been well over 400 years since Rhyl has experienced any kind of earth tremors and the chances of there being another earthquake in Rhyl are slimmer than the revenue that the new complex will create.

What unfolds is a journey into terror as a big quake hits the town of Rhyl on the night of the big Gala opening. How will they survive? Will they get out with their lives? Will escaped serial killer Bob Rosare get to them before the toxic gas does?

To find out why not pop over to the Death Plays Black website and read up on the characters and about the town of Rhyl? While you're there have a listen to the episodes that have been broadcast and get your appetite ready for the new ones.
